After nearly a month in the hospital and three surgeries later, our little hero finally came home today!! And the fact that his arrival home came on Jon's birthday made it that much more special! We couldn't be more excited and proud to have Hudson home...together with the rest of his family. It is a dream come true.
We spent the weekend at the hospital learning and training how to take care of Hudson once he arrived home. We had to go through a 24 hour trial run, ensuring all feeding, medications, exams and vitals were conducted on time and per protocol. It was tremendously helpful and prepared us for life ahead at home with little man. Thankfully we passed and are now able to put our training to use!
Hudson will be home until his next surgery which will likely occur within the next 4-6 months. Until then, our goal is eat, sleep and stay healthy! The bigger he can get, the better his chances at a successful surgery and long-term prognosis. We have to provide daily updates to hospital staff on vitals, any noticeable changes, and weight progression. Additionally, we have weekly checkups at the hospital clinic, including heart echos, feeding evaluations and physical exams. It will be overwhelming at times, but we will do whatever it takes to give him his best chances.
We are sincerely and forever grateful for the many prayers and support we have received throughout the past several weeks. This month has flown by but we couldn't have completed it without everyone's support. The letters, emails, cards, flowers, meals, gifts, etc...we are so appreciative! We can't thank everyone enough! As a token of our thanks, we will continue to keep the blog updated with Hudson's continued progress in the months ahead.
Please continue to keep Hudson in your prayers. God bless!
