While our little fighter was continuing to rally at the hospital, we had an all out flu epidemic at home. Sunday Harlowe began feeling ill, which we thought was contained to her....wrong. Today Oliver began praying to the porcelain god...and then Grandma Jeannie began feeling ill as well. We have been at the hospital for the past two days so we are hopeful that the exposure has been limited to just those three at home. Please keep your fingers crossed that the isolation works!
A gigantic THANK YOU to Grandma Jeannie (aka "Neannie") for taking care of Harlowe and Oliver despite being bit by the influenza bug herself. This enabled us to quarantine as much as possible within the Allen home and hopefully not pass on to others that may be in contact with Hudson. Thank you so much!
Tonight we had a little fun during rounds with the doctors as one of them began serenading us outside hospital room with a little personal rendition of the 80s classic hit "Africa" by Toto. We were dozing off about the time the rounds were starting so the appealing sounds immediately woke us up and offered some well-needed laughs. As our pastor provided advice ahead of Hudson's delivery, "make sure you laugh throughout the journey because it will break you down if you don't"....couldn't agree more!
Special thanks to nurses Suzie, Derek, Terry and Stephanie for their care last night and today. They continue to make the stay for Hudson and his parents much easier than we could have predicted!
