Hudson went into surgery at 1:30 PM today and it is scheduled to last 7 hours. We will keep everyone updated on progress as best we can. In the meantime, we wanted to share a moment from this morning that gave us a new level of confidence and hope for our son.
Jon's mother was given a bottle of holy water blessed at the site of Fatima miracle (http://www.ourladyoffatima.org/fatima/fatima.htm). She has used this water for blessings on various family members in times of need. Following a debrief with the cardiovascular surgeon, we used this morning as an opportunity to bless Hudson with this water ahead of his first surgery. We had deep faith the blessing would help him through surgery and give him strength in his recovery. However, we had no idea it would also give us strength as parents...
Following the blessing of Hudson, we began to feel the intensity of the day ahead. We were beginning to realize the complexity of Hudson's condition. We were beginning to comprehend the surgery that he was facing. We were beginning to understand the path to recovery which required two more surgeries following today. We knew it was still a long road ahead.
However, all that was quickly washed away when we were introduced to a Physician assistant from Childrens....a 34 year old miracle that had the exact same diagnosis as Hudson. We couldn't believe it. Proof that there was hope! Proof that there was a strong life ahead for Hudson! We spent the next 30 minutes talking to her and couldn't resist having a photo opportunity with her holding our dear son. It was a tremendous feeling ahead of surgery...and the road to a more permanent solution for Hudson's heart.
Below are a few pictures of this morning's events. We thank everyone for their continued prayers and support both today and over the course of his recovery. It means more to us than you will ever know.
