Ashley was able to spend the entire day with Hudson, a luxury she hasn't had up to this point. She truly enjoyed the time with him today. However, it was a bit stressful as the team requested Hudson to have a brain MRI conducted as they found a couple spots via ultrasound that they wanted to have checked out ahead of surgery. The MRI results indicated an infarction in the right frontal lobe. They also spotted small areas in the middle cerebellum that are typically seen in premies. The doctors believe the spots themselves aren't cause for too much alarm but want to be 100% certain there is no additional risk with surgery quickly approaching. They are going to engage Neurology tomorrow to further confirm but at this point surgery is still scheduled for Thursday as originally planned. This was the first minor setback for Hudson thus far but we have the utmost faith in the surgeons, Hudson and the Lord that the course ahead will be positive.
Jon had the chance to speak with staff this evening who provided additional details on the series of surgeries ahead. Many people have asked about the exact surgeries being conducted so he plans to post the perspective later this week.
Sincere thanks to Grandpa John A for relieving Ashley and Jon last night of night duty. They were finally able to get a good night's rest...but not so certain we can say the same for him, Hudson or the hospital staff. Between Grandpa's snoring, fear of diaper-changing or the constant alarms/sounds from Hudson's monitoring systems stressing him out, we think he kept the hospital staff quite busy! All kidding aside, it was greatly appreciated and Hudson enjoyed the time with Gramps. Next time though, he will need to bring some different clothes to sleep in :)
Special thanks to nurses Tricia and Joselyn for their continued care of our little man. Hudson is beginning to be quite the ladies man as they are all falling in love with him!
