Day 6: Today was all about family for 2 reasons: 1) Harlowe and Oliver met their baby brother! 2) Jon's family participated in the annual Heart mini-marathon in Cincinnati in support of Hudson.
This morning, Harlowe and Oliver arrived to the hospital to visit their new brother. Their excitement was off the charts! They both sported their "heart" sweatshirts and held Jon's hands as they entered Hudson's room. As soon as they saw him for the first time, they both smiled ear to ear with pride and happiness. It was a special moment for us as parents to experience. We invited a child life specialist from Childrens to participate in the visit and they were able to document with pictures and stories for the kids. Additionally, Jon's coworkers brought gifts for Harlowe and Oliver to celebrate their brother's arrival....and absolutely nailed it! Oliver immediately began yelling "Beep Beeps" when he opened his car set and Harlowe instantly wanted to go home to play with her finger paint set. We were so proud as parents and continue to revisit the pictures above as reminder of how truly blessed we are.
Simultaneous to the kids visit to hospital, Jon's family participated in this year's Cincinnati Heart mini-marathon...under team name "Hudson's Heroes". Many family members and friends bared the freezing cold to run the 5k in support of their new buddy. We were both so humbled at the demonstration of support and hope to one day participate with Hudson ourselves!
Special thanks to nurses Trisha and Jocelyn for another seamless day of outstanding care for our son! You truly take care of Hudson as if he were your own!
