our 3rd child, due March 2014. We couldn't have been more surprised, but more importantly, we couldn't be more excited! During our 20 week ultrasound, that excitement grew as we received word our 3rd child was going to be a boy...Harlowe and Oliver were going to have a baby brother! However, that excitement was quickly combined with the ultrasound technician identifying an issue with our son's heart. We were quickly told to prepare for the worst and expect a difficult path for our son. We were referred to multiple specialists, who through weekly ultrasounds and fetal echo technology, were able to prenatally diagnose his condition as: 1) asplenia heterotaxy syndrome with isolated dextrocardia, 2) A double outlet right ventricle, an antrioventricular septal defect and right pulmonary atresia and 3) abdominal omphalocele. We had never heard of these conditions and could barely understand doctors' explanations for how to fix. But luckily for us, we have a son who was willing to fight and a team of doctors that are the nation's experts in repairing congenital heart defects.
