Hudson was due to arrive via induction on Wednesday, March 12th...but he had other plans. On Tuesday, March 11th, Ashley woke up with severe cramping and bleeding. We were immediately fearing the worst that we had lost or were going to lose our son. We rushed to the hospital and found out she had a placenta tear...forcing her into immediate labor. Contractions and dilation began. Water broke. And then 20 minutes later, our little guy was ready to make his debut. However, the rest of the world was still trying to keep up with his pace. After months of mentally preparing for the delivery, including having present a team of doctors, immediate shot of prostaglandin to enable his heart to continue circulating blood to his lungs, a transport team to Childrens, etc, at 3:51 PM Hudson entered the world via a brave resident OB/GYN and nurse duo. All of us awaited anxiously to witness his first breaths...an action that would then trigger the next set of activities to save his life.
Breath!
Cry!
The rest of the medical staff running into the room!
Our little guy had made it!
Within the hour, the NICU had stabilized him and the transport team had arrived to transition him to the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at Children's Hospital. The beginning of Hudson's life journey had begun.
